Women (and many men) in the United States are very interested – some may say “obsessed” – with looking young. When youth and beauty is valued as it is, it’s no wonder that we spend so much time and money trying to prevent or reverse the effects of Father Time.

Skin care lotions, potions, and treatments can go a long way toward keeping us looking and feeling younger. But there are many things we can (and should!) do to keep our minds, bodies, skin, and souls healthy, youthful, and vibrant.

Pamper yourself!

This is one thing we take very seriously. We have designed and formulated our masks to provide your skin with the highest quality, most effective ingredients. But the other part of the equation is that our masks are meant to pamper you. While you can wear your mask while you do other things (cooking, cleaning, laundry, watching TV, etc.), we recommend that you take the 20 minutes or so that you’re wearing the mask… and do nothing. Relax. Don’t take any phone calls. Make the kids go outside (or at least into another room). We can’t all afford to go to the spa on a regular basis, but we can get the spa experience with a mask!

Natural is best

I am a big believer in doing what you need to do to feel good about yourself. That said, I think (and I know many who agree) things like Botox, and fillers, and lip plumpers actually do the opposite of what they’re intended to do. A lot of people who resort to these options have a “hard” or unnatural look to them – and they don’t really look younger. Maybe they no longer have lines on their faces, but they still don’t look “young” – just “different.”

There are plenty of ways to slow down the aging process without going to extremes.

Start young

Any time is the right time to start taking better care of yourself. But the earlier you start, the better your results will be, and the better you’ll look and feel. If you get into the habit of taking care of your body, it will become a life-long process with life-long benefits.

Watch your weight

Obesity is a huge problem – especially in the US. More than a third of all adults in the US are obese, and there are even more who are overweight. Even if you put aside all of the other health risks associated with being overweight, it certainly does nothing to make you look or feel younger.

Developing healthy eating and exercising habits at an early age will go a long way to making you look and feel younger. And if you maintain a healthy weight throughout your life, you’re less likely to have the wrinkles, etc. that are associated with major weight fluctuations. But remember that a “healthy” weight does not necessarily translate to “skinny.” One thing I notice about many people who impose strict diets and exercise programs on themselves is that they lose too much body fat. Lower body fat is good – but not when it’s too low. Your skin (and your body) look better overall if there is a little body fat to keep everything “filled out.” I’ve seen some extremely fit people who look much older than their age because they carry so little body fat. They are in great shape, but they could still be in great shape with just a little more “plump” on their frames.

Antioxidants and anti-inflammatories

Free-radical damage and inflammation are two of the biggest culprits when it comes to premature aging. Using antioxidants like Vitamins C & E both internally and externally can help fight free-radical damage, and slow down the aging process.

Anti-inflammatories like Omega-3 fish oil also help to balance the body and make all the processes of the body work smoothly.

Simplicity is key

Whatever you do to help fight aging; it has to be something you can live with. It’s unnecessary to have a 10-step skin care routine – especially if it’s going to stress you out every time you have to go through it. Find a routine that works for you, and products that make you look and feel your best, then stick with it. Once a week, treat yourself to something like a mask to supplement what you’re doing the rest of the week.

Develop healthy and youthful habits and you’ll look and feel healthy and youthful. And on those days when you don’t feel so young?… Fake it! If you go through your day with confidence and joy, you’ll appear (and feel!) younger.
